Registration Fee: $325 per participant. Includes all supplies and equipment needed for the course. Participants only need to come in comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes, and have their hair tied back.
The course will consist of 3 hours of home study didactic learning and 5-hours of live, in-person instruction. The 5 hours of live instruction will be scheduled on one day and will consist of a 30-minute Initial Assessment, a 2-hour pre-clinical/lab session, a 2-hour clinical session, and a 30-minute final exam =Total of 4 hours didactic, 2 hours pre-clinical/lab, and 2 hours clinical= 8 hours total. There will be a 30-minute lunch break between the pre-clinical and clinical sessions. Please choose from the available dates when registering.
About 1-2 days after registration, participants will receive an email with the course syllabus and learning packet. The learning packet will consist of all the reading material for the course as well as copies of the grading sheets used for the hands-on portion of the course. Participants must complete the reading of the syllabus and learning packet BEFORE their scheduled live hands-on course date.
Location: The hands-on portion of the course is held at our offices at 2630 S. Mooney Blvd, Suite 203 Visalia, California 93277.
Course Objective: This course is approved by the Dental Board of California and meets the Board’s requirements for 8-hours of Infection Control for pre-licensure dental assistants and unlicensed dental professionals. This is NOT the 2-hour infection control for license renewal. This course is designed to educate dental health care professionals in infection control standards and regulations required by the Dental Board of California, California Department of Health and Safety (Cal-DOSH, also known as Cal-OSHA: California Department of Occupational Safety and Health Administration), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The course will utilize a combination of didactic instruction, pre-clinical skills training, and clinical hands-on experiences to teach participants proper infection control in a dental setting.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants should be competent in the following:
1. Have a basic foundation of dental science and microbiology, as they pertain to infection control in dentistry, including the principles and modes of disease transmission.
2. Know the legal and ethical aspects of infection control procedures.
3. Know the terms, definitions, and protocols for infection control as specified by the Dental Board of California and the California Code of Regulations for minimum standards for infection control.
4. Be able to demonstrate with proficiency using the detailed grade sheets, the techniques and procedures of:
a. Conducting hand hygiene.
b. Selecting and donning proper personal protective equipment for the situation.
c. Placement and removal of surface barriers.
d. Cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of operatory surfaces and instruments.
e. Identifying, storing, handling, and disposal of hazardous chemicals, regulated, and nonregulated waste.
f. Sterilizer monitoring and proper loading, unloading, storage, and transportation of instruments.
g. Sharps management using environmental controls and disposal protocols.
h. Disinfection of laboratory areas, items, and supplies such as dental impressions.
i. Waterline maintenance using proper flushing and disinfecting protocols.
5. Demonstrate comprehension of the principles and protocols related to injury and illness prevention, hazard communication, general office safety, exposure control, postexposure requirements, and monitoring systems for radiation safety and sterilization systems.
All persons registering for this course will be required to sign a release and waiver of liability for use of our premises and supplies and must adhere to all emergency, safety, and HIPAA protocols. All supplies and equipment needed is included in the registration fee. Participants only need to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes.
Cancellation Policy. We have a limited number of seats available for each course date. As such, please adhere to the following policy: Cancellations must be requested in writing via email to info@ellisondentalconsulting at least 2 weeks before the date of the course for a full refund of the registration fee. Participants who cancel within one week but before 2 days of the course date are entitled to a 50% refund of the course registration fee. There are no cancellations allowed within 2 days of the scheduled course date. Any late cancellations (within 2 days of the scheduled course date) or no-shows will be charged the full registration fee and will not receive refunds of any kind under any circumstances. Participants will be allowed to reschedule their course date up to 2 times, after which, the registration fee is forfeit and the participant will have to re-register. Any participants who reschedule their initial course date will no longer be eligible for a refund of any kind.
